According to Derrida the drawing, the trace of signs that by definition should show the visible, showing the way in which a gaze has rested on it, is linked to an impossibility of seeing, to a form of intermittent blindness. The draftsman sees, otherwise he would not draw. But the draw is blind, or at least it is the product of a singular form of blindness.
